Bag&Baggage Productions, Washington County's newest professional theatre company, will present Steel Magnolias in Fall 2008. Performances will take place in the Venetian Theatre in downtown Hillsboro.

Scott Palmer has directed and produced critically acclaimed theatrical productions in the United Kingdom (including William Shakespeare’s Richard III, As You Like It, Henry V, Antony and Cleopatra, King Lear, The Tempest, Much Ado About Northing, Measure for Measure, Titus Andronicus, Twelfth Night, Romeo and Juliet; Richard Greenberg’s Eastern Standard; Susan Somte’s Seen and Not Heard and his own original adaptations of Shakespeare’s work including Lear, Henry, Kabuki Titus and Infinite Variety) in New Zealand (including the New Zealand premiere of the original script Infinite Variety and various performance art works such as Magpie, Pigeon and Touch for the Wellington International Festival) and the United States (including Noel Coward’s Blithe Spirit and Private Lives, Ben Jonson’s The Silent Woman, the Reduced Shakespeare Company’s The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged), the North American premiere of Adrian Osmand’s Just One More Dance for OSU’s Holocaust Memorial Week and the world premieres of original adaptations of Romeo and Juliet and Much Ado About Nothing
Most recently, Scott has been working as Artistic Director of Bag&Baggage Productions and has toured productions of Macbeth and A Christmas Carol with the company.
Bag&Baggage has grand plans for their partnership with The Venetian in downtown Hillsboro. The performance schedule is not confirmed, but the first season of shows in Hillsboro is likely to include Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling, The Comedy of Errors by William Shakespeare and The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde.
